The only intergenerational choir in Victoria has a new rehearsal location, day, and time – and is inviting new people to take part. Effective January 16, 2016, members will meet on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cadboro Bay United Church (2625 Arbutus Road; Bus Route 11). See victoriagoodnewschoir.com for the complete season schedule.
A new venue and schedule means that the 18-year-old Choir can make their unique all-ages program available to more people. “No singing experience is required, and everyone from children to seniors and entire families can participate together,” says Choir administrator, Sue Coneys. “We currently have members from three generations singing together and having great fun as they share their artistic pastime.” People are welcomed to visit a rehearsal before joining. Seasonal or semester fees for families, adults, youth, and first-time members are available on the Choir website; children under 12 years are free when accompanied by an adult member. For more information about joining the Choir, email info@victoriagoodnewschoir.com or call 250-658-1946.
Louise Rose, music director, accompanist, and resident arranger, has led the Choir since its inception in 1997. Her repertoire highlights the cultural, spiritually, and generational diversity of the membership, and includes music from the sixteenth century to funk, rock ‘n roll, gospel, and more genres. Performances take place at many venues around Victoria throughout the year. Upcoming events can be found on their website: victoriagoodnewschoir.com.
