CADBORO BAY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS COMMITTEE GENERAL INFORMATION APRIL 1, 2016 – NOTE THAT SOME OF THIS INFORMATION IS NOW OUT OF DATE. The Emergency Preparedness Committee of the Cadboro Bay Residents Association has been in existence since 1998 and was organized to assist all residents of the Cadboro Bay area to “be prepared” for whatever disaster or emergency situation comes our way. We have offered workshops and meetings and distributed information sheets on how to prepare for earthquakes, brush fires, tsunamis and storms. We have divided Cadboro Bay into 3 zones, each with a Coordinator and a system of Street Captains who look after their close neighbours. These Captains have frequently distributed information sheets on how to prepare a survival kit and how to store water. The Emergency Preparedness Committee has several trained Search and Rescue Teams and Medical Teams plus a Radio Communications Team, a Command Centre Team and a Temporary Reception Centre Team. The preparedness structure and the trained personnel are in place but the Committee needs the participation of ALL THE RESIDENTS IN CADBORO BAY. Not that long ago, we saw the sad consequences in Mississippi and Louisiana of not being prepared for the wrath of nature.
